When Pain Itself is the Problem
Acute pain is a symptom, the body’s warning signal that something is wrong. Examples are the pain of a fractured bone, a torn muscle, a decayed tooth. Acute pain disappears when the condition responsible for it is healed.
Chronic pain, however, is persistent pain, becoming a problem in itself. Among the more common types of chronic pain are:
- Low back pain
- Cancer pain
- Myofascial pain
- Arthritis pain
- Migraine or tension headache
- Temporomandibular joint pain in the jaw and neck
Chronic pain is probably the chief single cause of disability today. It exacts a tremendous toll in terms of human suffering and as a financial burden to individuals and employers.
WHAT WE DO
At the Kinley Institute for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine we provide a number of services. Our oriental medicine center offers suffering people a natural, inexpensive alternative to traditional Western medicine.
Through the Oriental medicine center we have been able to not only heal but educate as well. Education is a key component of our services. Eastern medicine in general and acupuncture in particular has not always received a warm reception in the Western world. Much of the resistance is related to a lack of understanding of the principles on which it is based. Through our Oriental medicine center we have been able to heal and educate. Many have seen or received dramatic healing through the use of the acupuncture center. This has led the residents of Clark, NJ to accept us as an important part of the resources in their community.
